What are Riddled Phantasms?

Who are you?
We are a site who looks to report on music, to bring you MP3’s to download, videos to watch (if possible in HD format), videos to download, new and rare songs to hear. We are looking for music, following it without a compass, bringing you our version of a new age of “dharma” – SEX, PEACE & ROCK AND ROLL!
We are:
RIDDLED PHANTASMS MAGAZINE
So where did you get the name “Riddled Phantasms?”
The name itself comes from a passage in a Jack Kerouac novel, either The Dharma Bums (that I believe to be it) or Desolation Angels (that I also believe to be it as well). In it he is talking about his friends, using not so vague aliases for William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso and Neil Cassidy among others giving them pseudonyms and even giving himself a name: Mr. Jack Duluoz.
I remember it because he was describing Burroughs and his ability to write so well, with such a beat, a quasi-pentameter that it simple “riddles my phantasms.”
That is where the name of this site comes from, because in a nutshell we hope with music and words and photos and videos to somehow, sometime if we are lucky to “riddle your phantasms” too. So hence the name “Riddled Phantasms” was born, an homage to Ian Dury’s mantra and song Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll , which we have adapted to the following three categories.
What are your plans for the future?
- We are looking to move from online to print in the fall-winter, before end of 2009. That is a bold endeavor, but one we feel is achievable.
- We are looking to add the podcasting of interviews we have conducted and will continue to conduct.
- We are looking to add a page dedicated to our sexiest people, things, models, music, art, cars, you name it…this will be th SEX part of the equation.
- We are looking to add a page dedicated to Peace in it’s many forms of humanity from the clear nature of what is peace to the idea of peace within ourselves, helping our fellow men and women, causes dedicated to peace, eradicating disease…this will be PEACE part of the equation.
- We are looking to add more quality writers from all stretches of the USA, as well as the world.
- We are looking at maybe doing a documentary of either a band, a tour, a series of events and or a montage of scenes from shows we’ve covered and will continue to cover
- We are looking to bringing you more HD (high-definition) formatted video, photographs, mixed media, as we believe that is the future of video and even sound.
So why bother? There are a million music websites and million people slaving away at the same thing?
We are here seeking to break the shackles of forged and pretentious “genres”. The idea of genre-less music, like we said in our opening following music without a compass is what this is about. We are not just music, but we are human sexuality, we are human peace, we are all these elements that can make for a compelling, a unique diverse magazine both as an eZine and in Print.
The music media like a swine slaughterhouse stockroom stooges, slaps a “genre” and “slogan” on every album it possibly can, in a way that even Upton Sinclair screams from the grave – “I aimed at the public’s heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach.”
And so our goal here is simple – we want to stomp out the disease that is “genres” either using the pen as a rhapsodically versed and rudimentary composition of loquacity, or with rapture and an ethos, that comes as succubus – intent on riddling your phantasms, raw and in your face.
Maybe we effect many, maybe we effect a few, but change can only occur from the bottom up, NEVER from the top down, history has shown that modality for change as true.
