As I awoke early this morning I saw on the news wire that DJ AM had passed away and there much speculation about this and about that. I didn’t give too much credence to what they were speculating on, just the fact that we lost a talented artist. I am not a DJ-AM guru by any means, but I am not a savant either and from what I have heard both live and given from friends, various record companies and management companies I always come away impressed in whatever project, track or vision DJ AM aka Adam Goldstein was involved in.
So instead of focusing on the who did what, to when, ambulance chasing bulls#!! about his death. A disease that is scarily a large portion of the media, including many of the so-called “prestigious music and news media outlets” that are drawn to like a moths to the flame, vultures to respects of family wishes and unfortunate deaths or illness, we are taking a far different approach, one that honors the memory and continues the legacy rather than shoving it under a Perez Hilton type of mouthy swine rhetoric.
We say @#%!-You as a rebuttal to all those lamenting, speculating judgements in a tabloid style manner meant to sell magazines and papers at the expense of tragedy (and yes I mean you Rolling Stone, NY Times, AOL, TIME, MTV, TMZ, CNN, LA Times and more). We at Riddled Phantasms Magazine instead focused on the things we know DJ AM loved and would likely have wanted to be the lead on news concerning his obit.
I went through my archives and was able to find an old post, some emails regarding remixes (the release is seen below) and others that have a rare track for free download that I was given by his management company and we as a group here have decided to re-release that along with some amazing other material you will read about, listen to and see below.
What we have for you remixes of Chris Cornell’s Scream from Universal Music Group, part of the single and the collaborations mentioned below at a 330 Bit-rate.
We for one are fans of this album, Scream, and the subsequent collaborations that have brought and keeps bringing together Rock, DJ, Rap and Hip Hop legands. I believe that these types of partnerships and alliances across genres and styles will help break down barriers, remove genres, stigmas and seriously make your iPod’s “genius mode” go WTF?!? (something we at Riddled Phantasms Magazine are 150% in favor of happening)
Earlier in the Spring we were lucky enough to attend the show that was done in conjunction with Atlanta’s 96 rock, as they turned it into ChrisFM letting him play the music he liked, debut a lot of rare tracks on air and even stream the entire 28 song concert on air.
That concert and a lead up piece of dialogue we have for you straight from the soundboard guys after the concert, ready for your download HERE.
So in honor of DJ AM, I am revising an old post and adding new content, because this single track below (click on it to open the player) highlights his skills and is a segue between some of the best djs and one of the world’s best rock stars. Seen below is the DJ-AM/Eli Escobar remix, Steve Aoki remix, both posters (Skee and Wiltern) that you can grab HERE or you can grab them below from Cornell’s management company link.

As reported by Cornell’s management a few months ago is the following release with links for the DJ AM/Eli Escobar and Steve Aoki remix tracks in the highest resolution wav format and combined with the mixtape above, we feel is a correct tribute to DJ AM:
Chris plays a sold out show at the Showbox in Seattle tonight and finishes Scream Live tour on May 3rd at the Wiltern in LA with DJ Skee and the Crash Kings performing as well (see poster above)
Scream was produced by Timbaland and he has continued to play with the sound of the songs of this record including 10 remixes for his track “Part of Me,” acoustic versions, and the upcoming single will be a non-album version.

So what is this stuff about bitrates and remastering? Well, non-standard bit rates up to 640 kbit/s can be achieved with the LAME encoder and the freeformat option, although few MP3 playerscan play those files. According to the ISO standard, decoders are only required to be able to decode streams up to 320 kbit/s.The files as a result are slightly larger but thanks to our work and remastering and a few other tweaks we give you the best possible audio that even the mp3 you get off the CD does not give you. A CD will give you 128 kbit/s, we attempt to give you from 128kbit/s to 320 kbit/s whenever possible. The sound quality is more than double, that is all that means. We also hope you respect our rules and regulations and do not in any way shape or form attempt to sell, reuse w/o prior consent and be sure to credit your sources, us if you link to us. We would really appreciate it.
